Virginia Century Farm

Del Ray Farm is a recognized Virginia Century Farm, having been owned and farmed by the Richard family for over 100 consecutive years.  Founded in the late 1800's by Benjamin F. Richard, Del Ray Farm was once a large, 90 acre farm raising Hereford beef and Holstein dairy cattle.  And once upon a time, was the resting grounds for Wild Bill Cody's Wild West Show.  Now the land is home to the Strasburg River Walk, the Strasburg Water Treatment Facility, Strasburg High School, and Riverview Cemetary.  As a small, 12 acre farm, Del Ray strives to provide Strasburg with the highest quality of vegetables and fish.

Our

Tilapia

Del Ray Farm Aquaponics raises both blue and red tilapia.  It has become one of the most popular fish in United States because of it’s mild taste and firm, porous texture which readily absorbs the flavors around it.  Our tilapia are raised on non-GMO pelleted food, and are never given any hormones.  To ensure a healthier, cleaner product, a percentage of the water in our fish tanks is removed and replaced nearly every day, in addition to this we keep a lower than average stocking rate.  Because of these procedures, our fish have a lower chance of contracting diseases  and parasites, and a higher chance of tasting delicious on your plate!
